The Research and Program Services division of the National Office of the American Lung Association is pleased to announce the posting of the new Trends in Tobacco Use 2007 report. This trend report highlights the latest statistics and research findings on tobacco use and cessation.
Cigarette smoking has been identified as the most important source of preventable morbidity and premature mortality worldwide. This report delineates the statistical information available on tobacco use and consumption, as well as related morbidity and mortality. This narrative primarily focuses on cigarettes but also includes statistical information on other tobacco products such as cigars and smokeless tobacco. Environmental tobacco smoke exposure is also reviewed.
