Lung Disease Support & Information

The American Lung Association of North Carolina is dedicated to improving the lives of lung disease patients. From a hotline staffed by medical experts, to local support groups for patients, to funding aimed at eliminating tuberculosis, we have the support you need.

  • Lung HelpLine
    The Lung Help Line provides residents of NC access to immediate, clear, and accurate lung health information and stop smoking assistance.
  • Prescription Assistance
    A number of resources are available for lung disease patients who need assistance with purchasing or accessing treatment:
  • Educational Materials and Brochures
    The American Lung Association of North Carolina is dedicated to providing patient education to those interested in Lung health issues. Designed to support health literacy, our evidence-based, peer-reviewed products help doctors and nurses in hospitals and private practice educate patients quickly and easily.   • Better Breathers Clubs
    Better Breathers clubs offer lung disease patients education and support to better manage their breathing. The clubs can significantly improve the quality of life for patients suffering from lung disease, and the relationships members develop with one another last for a lifetime.  Find one in your area.
  • Miscellaneous Support Groups
    Listed here will be a variety of clubs and support groups offered across the state that are not affiliated with the American Lung Association of North Carolina.
  • TB Housing & Incentive Fund
    In partnership with the Epidemiology Division, Communicable Disease/TB Control Branch, the American Lung Association of NC offers financial resources for health department personnel to purchase or otherwise provide incentives for tuberculosis patients, when such incentives are necessary to ensure compliance with and completion of supervised drug therapy.  With medical approval, funds can also be allocated to provide temporary housing to patients receiving care for TB through health departments for the duration of treatment.
  • Tuberculosis Control
    The Tuberculosis Control program, located in the Public Health Division of the NC Department of Health and Human Services, is the lead agency in combating tuberculosis in the state. Learn more about Tuberculosis Control in North Carolina.
