Misc Support Groups

A variety of clubs are offered across the state that are not affiliated with the American Lung Association of North Carolina.  These clubs offer an array of support and information, including but not limited to: patient education, information, support to better disease management, and family support.  Please contact the organization listed directly for more information.

Lung Cancer Support Group
The group meets the second Monday of every month from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Cancer Center, Buddy Kemp Caring House, 242

Concord, NC

Cancer Support Group
This is a group where all cancer survivors and their families are welcome to come and share their experiences.  The group meets the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mariam Cannon Hayes Family Medical Center, Classrooms one and two.  For further information, call Chaplain Tony Biles, B.C.C.  M.Div. at 704-783-1443 or Karen Potter, RN, at 704-783-1577

Duke Cancer Patient Support Program
The Duke Cancer Patient Support Group Program is beginning a support group for lung cancer patients and family members August 2, 2007.   It will meet from 9:30-10:30 every Thursday, except for an occasional time switch due to room availability. They welcome any of you who would like to share your experiences and perspective.   They believe this group will grow and be a vital part of the care plan for lung cancer patients and their family. Duke KidsCan - Answers about Cancer for Kids
KidsCan! is designed to support children ages six through seventeen who have a parent or significant caregiver with the diagnosis of cancer. They will have the opportunity to meet with other children going through a similar experience. The parents will meet separately to discuss family issues. Surry Cancer Support Group
Surry County Cancer Support Group meets on the first Monday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Grace Moravian Church, 1401 N. Main St., Mount Airy, NC. Informational programs are featured and refreshments are served.  For more information, call 336-789-9779

The mission of Family Support Network of North Carolina is to promote and provide support for families with children who have special needs.  Family Support Network of North Carolina promotes and provides family support through its family support services; education and outreach activities; research and evaluation; and other projects.  Family Support Network of North Carolina includes affiliated local Family Support Network programs located across the state.
