Asthma Camps

The American Lung Association's Asthma Camp Program brings many important rewards to children who are fortunate to have the camp experience. Not the least of these rewards is the emphasis placed on a focus of making certain that campers feel totally normal in spite of their asthma. Swimming, canoeing, horse back riding, the fellowship of other campers and much more are all available just as these things would be at any other summer camp. Campers leave the experience with improved self esteem and a sense of empowerment to call upon in handling their disease. Parents may check with their pediatrician or call the American Lung Association of North Carolina office, toll free (800) 892-5650. Scholarships are available through the American Lung Association of North Carolina

Asthmatics Just Do It!

While learning how to cope with asthma is a large part of asthma camp, having fun is even larger!! Campers are given ownership of their asthma. They are taught that once they commit to following their individually prescribed asthma plan that there are no restrictions on activities inside or outside of camp. The following activities are available at camp:

  • Horseback Riding
