Your American Lung Association of North Carolina has been committed to improving the lives of citizens with asthma for decades. As a leader in the asthma community, we provide a comprehensive approach to improving asthma care by working with families, communities, and a diversity of health care professionals statewide.  

Your American Lung Association of North Carolina offers a number of programs to help asthmatics better manage the disease - reducing attacks, doctor visits, and helping patients to lead a normal life.

  • Breathe Well, Live Well
    The American Lung Association is pleased to announce a new adult asthma management program entitled “Breathe Well, Live Well.” This program is designed to provide to adults with asthma the basic self management knowledge and skills to reduce asthma-related morbidity and improve their quality of life.
  • Asthma Information
    Find out more about asthma including treatment options, triggers and prevalence in North Carolina. In addition find a variety of additional on-line resources.
  • Asthma Control Test
    Are you in charge of your asthma? Take the quick Asthma Control Test and know your score.
  • Asthma Profiler
    The Asthma Profiler is a free, interactive on-line tool that helps patients and physicians with treatment decisions.
  • A is for Asthma
    Sesame Street's A is for Asthma is a multimedia education effort targeting pre-school age children and their caregivers.
  • Asthma Camps
    Recreational day and residential camp programs are run during the summer months for children with asthma. Asthma education is integrated into fun camp activities.
  • Open Airways
    Open Airways for Schools is an asthma education program for children with asthma in grades 3-6 at the school site.
  • Asthma Clinical Research Center
    The Asthma Clinical Research Centers (ACRC) network develops large clinical trials that provide useful information important to the direct care of people who have asthma.
  • NC Asthma Alliance
    The Asthma Alliance is a statewide partnership of local and state government agencies, academic institutions, local asthma coalitions, non-profits and private industry working collaboratively to address asthma.
  • Asthma Scholarships
    Find out about college scholarships for persons who have asthma.
As millions of students with asthma pour back into the nation’s classrooms over the next month, the startling results of an American Lung Association poll of parents of children with asthma reveal they are not taking basic steps to manage their child’s asthma while at school.  Learn more about the findings and what parents can do to be prepared and get involved.
