Raleigh, N.C. – The American Lung Association of North Carolina announces that Ron Francis, NHL legend and former Carolina Hurricanes team captain, will lead the charge at the “Take a Swing at Lung Cancer” golf tournament and fundraiser. Francis is putting down the hockey stick for a golf club to raise important dollars for lung cancer, the leading cancer killer in both men and women in the United States. Golfers are invited to spend the day enjoying a great golf experience at one of the nation’s premier golf destinations and the possibility of playing in the foursome with Ron Francis. The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.

The “Take a Swing at Lung Cancer” golf tournament features a special hole-in-one event on Hole 16 with a spectacular prize of a 2006 BMW Z-4 Convertible (furnished by Leith BMW Raleigh).
