For Medical Professionals

The American Lung Association has a long history of partnership with medical professionals. The American Thoracic Society was founded in 1905 as the medical arm of the Lung Association; today, it is independently incorporated, but the two organizations continue to work together. The American Lung Association also offers continuing education opportunities to medical professionals through the Tuberculosis/Respiratory Disease Institute, the Asthma Educator Institute and the annual Atlantic Coast Regional Thoracic Conference.
